Meet Our Team

Doug Oakley started his career in photography with the Associated Press, Honolulu bureau in 2002. His work has since been published in newspapers all over America, from the Los Angeles Times, to USA Today, to the Arizona Republic. Currently, Doug works as a staff news photographer and reporter at Bay Area News Group which includes the Oakland Tribune and Contra Costa Times.

A newspaper and magazine reporter since 1988, he made the transition to photography as an artistic leap in storytelling. Doug approaches wedding photography in the same way he would cover a touching, emotional news event: a wedding is a story to be told, one of the most important in a person's life.

When he's not photographing weddings, writing stories, or shooting breaking news, Doug spends time with his 2-year old son, Jackson, his newborn son Bodie and wife Susan. And he still gets out to surf big winter waves at Ocean Beach in San Francisco.
